What Am I?

What Am I? by Dom Conlon

What am I?
I am liquid gold
smelting in a fiery shell.

What am I?
I am a tree jewel
in a orchard cave.

What am I?
I am the ocean at sunrise
rippling within a spider’s web.

What am I?
I am the blink of a flame
in a quick-closed eye.

What am I?
I am a tiny moon
pocked by pips.

What am I?
I am a golden trap
snapping at the sun.

What am I?
I am a desert-dry sponge
mopping up thirst.

What am I?
I am the curl of a dog
lapping the light from a bright blue bowl.

What am I?
I am an Orange.
