The two youngest monarchs of England and Scotland were Henry VI and Mary.
Henry ruled England from 1422 to 1453. He was 8 months old when he became King.
Mary ruled Scotland from 14 December 1542 to 24 July 1567. She was six days old when she became Queen.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
With crowns upon their tiny heads
They slumbered safe in royal beds,
But nothing made them quite so happy
As being fitted with a nappy.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
Henry VI, at eight months old,
had to do as he was told.
And Mary crowned at just six days,
had her own strange baby ways.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
With Mary being Queen of Scots
she didn’t play with other tots.
So as a child she lived in France
learning how to sing and dance.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
As if one crown were not enough,
Henry found things getting tough
and on his second throne he cried
when French King Charles did up and died.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
Men controlled Queen Mary’s life
and she was promised as a wife
to England’s Edward for a while
until the French came into style.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
Though very young when born to rule
King Henry was no silly fool,
he studied hard and listened well
making history proud to tell.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
Then in the year of ‘67
Mary found herself in prison,
and whilst locked up she had no joy
and lost her throne to a baby boy.
The country’s safe, so do not fear–
the baby king and queen are here.
there were no sulks or tempers lost
unlike the adults whom they bossed.
