There are a few hours left ’til Christmas Day,
I wrapped each present
I wrote each card
so lying here is very hard

but I’m staying awake.

There’s an hour or two ’til Christmas Day
I’ve left a drink
and one mince pie
so lying here just makes me sigh

but I’m staying awake.

There’s half an hour ’til Christmas Day
I wrote a letter
and that’s all done
so lying here is still no fun

but I’m staying awake.

There’s a few more minutes ’til Christmas Day
And I wonder what
Santa will say
when he sees me smiling

because I’m staying awake.

It’s Boxing Day not Christmas Day
and I wish I knew
that I’d sleep right through

if I tried to stay awake.
