Dom Conlon at Eureka National Children's Museum

Experience the power of stories at Eureka! National Children’s Museum

Dom Conlon will be appearing at Eureka! National Children’s Museum for a day of stories, poetry and ROARING! Get tips to improve children’s writing in this series of sessions based around poetry and character creation. Includes TWO readings of the Tiny the Giant stories for younger children.

Storytime with Tiny the Giant!

11:30 – 12:15
Join author Dom Conlon as he reads his ‘Tiny the Giant‘ picture books. ROAR like giants, whisper like trees, echo like the mountains and even EAT THE MOON as Tiny discovers what it means to be a giant. Suitable for all ages up to 7 (or any lovers of picture books), the session lasts 30 minutes with time afterwards to color.

Astro Poetry – Message to the Stars!

1:00 – 1:45
Come along and send a message to the stars with Dom Conlon and Astro Poetica. Discover more about space and hear poetry inspired by everything from the Big Bang to the question of whether a moon can have a moon. Learn how to create exciting imagery of your own and put this into practice by writing your very own Astro Poem and creating your very own Message To The Stars. This event helps children’s writing and is suitable for ages 7 and up.

Storytime with Tiny the Giant!

2:15 – 3:00
Another chance to ROAR with Tiny the Giant!

Create a Character

3:30 – 4:15
Stories born from interesting characters are the ones we talk about. From Danny, Champion of the World to Horrid Henry, it is characters which drive our love of stories. Hear author, Dom Conlon, talk about how he writes his books (Tiny the Giant, Tommy Tickletail, Astro Poetica) and have a go at creating a group character before trying it out on your own. This event is designed to help children’s writing and is suitable for ages 7 and up.
